Malawi tyre doctor

I enjoyed my visit to Malawi in 1990. I booked a 10-day fly-drive holiday from Harare. I flew into Lilongwe and picked up a battered old car. I stayed the first night at a good hotel in the capital. Being honest, rather than positive

A local businessman told me today the paper is too negative. “You have a responsibility to be positive about the town,” he said. Groggy doggy

Sooty was fixed on Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, she came home groggy and out of sorts. The vet made her wear a lampshade around her neck to stop her from licking her wound and getting it infected. GP shortage in Mount Gambier

Although we are mostly happy with life in Mount Gambier, one issue that causes concern is the lack of easy access to GPs. Valley Lake Wildlife Park

The Valley Lake Wildlife Park is a small nature reserve near the popular Valley Lake playground and boating area in Mount Gambier. My best photograph

I took this fluke picture on the Okavango Delta, Botswana, in 1990. I can’t think of a better photo that I’ve taken. This is a subjective opinion, of course. Dial a Santa

I was a member of Maffra Rotaract in the late 1980s and early 90s. One of our community service projects was “Dial a Santa”. We took bookings for Santa to visit Christmas functions. Mount Gambier Christmas Parade

The Christmas Parade in Mount Gambier today was a lot of fun. Sixty-two groups proceeded down Commercial Street including entries from schools, community organisations, brass bands, individuals and more.
